My daughters young dog got hold of a Moorehen chick that had strayed from the nest on her pond. After being shouted at to leave it the dog dropped it back in the pond, My Granddaughter was out on the canoe and was able to get hold of it as it followed her. Before it was put back with the other chick by the nest I got a quick picture of it. We all moved back and Mom came to the two chicks and got them back in the nest. The chicks were newly hatched.

Only had my compact camera and as we wanted to get it back asp I just got the one. It was lucky that Rita (the dog) was gentle with it and dropped it when told.

Thanks angler first close up of a Moorehen chick. We were glad to save it as a lot get taken by the magpies. Glad you like it...

Thanks amyinsparta, It was my granddaughters 11th Birthday as well. She did a good job in rowing back with the chick.

Sure did not have a great start Linda, but better the dog than the Magpie as it would have been gone for sure.....

I wouldn't say "cute" but I would say what a great photo. Nice composition, DOF and color!
