Moon rise over San Francisco Bay on a misty evening.

This is a shot that I took 12/1/09 it was a cold and somewhat misty evening and I was on the San Francisco Embarcadero for the full moon that was rising.
You can see Treasure Island in the middle, to the right is the Oakland Bay bridge, and beyond that the Port of Oakland docks.
I used a Canon EOS 50D and the Canon EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens.
Aperture priority ISO 200 0.8sec at f/8.0 focal length 28mm

Beautiful shot
Thank you!
I am some what disappointed with the way it looks on UHH site --- wish the size could be bigger. Some where around 1000 x 800 or 1200 x1000 pixels would be nice. I'm not seeing the detail that I see on my monitor which prompted me to post it.
Also, I will remove my watermark from now on. With this image it
covers some of the crucial detail of the benches in the lower left
corner.

You're making me nostalgic. San Francisco was always one of my favorite cities. We had friends renting a house in Tiburon, and I remember sitting on their deck at night looking across the Bay to San Francisco. This was before all the stupid skyscrapers messed up the topography. The lights were like jewels. Much better than watching television.

If you check the "Store Original" check box when you upload, viewers will have the opportunity to see your photo in the originally uploaded size, as opposed to just the 600x800 compressed thumbnail that UHH displays.... just a thought.
I have never seen this view before...amazing shot...

Thank you very much for your praise. I shot this off of the Embarcadero from a pier that juts out into the bay for about
300 feet --- it's quite close to the Ferry Building.
Great job ! Night shots can be, indeed, quite spectacular

Huge change in the city skyline since I transferred to NAS Alameda across the bay 48 years ago --- I'm still in love with it even with all the new skyscrapers.

You are not too far away from some really neat places to go for photo opportunities --- Point Reyes and Tomales Bay come to mind. Plus some of the great wineries in your area make for some pretty nice landscapes.
