This wasn't an easy shot, and was done hastily. I was photoing some Arctic Terns at Potter's Marsh, south of Anchorage the other day and inadvertently got too close to a nest. Mama got upset and flew up at me. I grabbed a fast shot with my Nikon D90 and Nikon 70--300 zoom. You get the emotion of this by the angry look on her face.
And a split second after you pressed the shutter release I presume you ducked and covered ... ??? :)
Great shot of a VERY angry mama ... love the expression and her wing motion.
Well done.

As a matter of fact, I did just that. I put my hand up as she flew up, then dived down at me, and she was so close to me that her tail feathers brushed my hand!!
