I am on the B&H Photo website looking at a Bower 2X DG II teleconverter (4 element) for Nikon ($139.00) and a Bower 2X DG II teleconverter (7 element) ($189.00)
I have a Nikon D60 & a AF-S Nikkor 55-300 mm 1:4.5-5.6
I'm 70 and on SS! Any advice will help, please don't send money just good advice.
No 2X tele is going to give you results you will like with that lens, you are sacrificing WAY too much light to use it.
I am looking for the same thing. Wondering which is "better". I am told that the elements refer to the glass. The 7 elements are better because there is more glass. Is this correct?
I'll suggest putting that money toward a 500mm or 600mm f4.5 or f5.6 lens.
I have a 55 - 300 lens now ( 4 - 5.6).
Just looking for the extra distance for those hard to reach pics.
Make sure it is compatable w/ the lens......if it is, your AF will probable slow down considerably.
I read somewhere that the Nikon Teleconvertor, which costs much more, doesn't work with that lens. I own the same lens.
I'd question if this one will.
Try to buy it with a 30 day return guarantee so you can try it out? You generally can do that.
I haven't bought from them but B&H gets great reviews so I think you can trust what they tell you.
I have bought from Adorama and found them straight up too.
If it does work please let us know: I'd likely go for one.
I will warn that what one of the other posters says is true. I have had trouble already in the early morning with that lens. You need to set ISO up pretty high, and thus get unsharp pics.
