I got an email from Sigma this morning. 150-500 lens $200 off. $869. That is a real buy.

Pressure from the Tamron 150-600? Competition keeps everyone on their game. ;)

You can search UHH and find many threads on the Sigma 150-500. All who actually own one (including self) have a high regard for it. I use mine on a Nikon D800 but don't think that matters.

The few who criticize it seem to sponsor lenses costing many times more. I suppose if I were in the photography business I might be interested in the improvements one can gain by spending much more money. But the Sigma fills my hobby needs quite well.

The only downside is that it is huge. You won't want to take it backpacking!

You'll likely love as much as I and other owners do.

The OS is awesome...handheld at 500mm

I love my Big Sig 150-500 Lens. I use it both handheld and on a tripod. I have had it for about a year now and it still performs great for my needs. I shoot mostly wildlife, birds and landscapes.

The "Bigma" is a great lens, especially for that price. For a lens with so much glass it focuses reasonably quick, it makes nice, clear photos, and obviously gets you pretty close to your subjects without disturbing them. Have never even seen Tamron's 150-00 yet but for the price of the Sigma, why wait for the seemingly problem riddled Tamron. I'm sure Tamron will eventually get everything worked out, but you can have the proven Sigma now, and for a fantastic price.
