When this bird made its flyby of course I had the wrong lens mounted in the my Canon5D MK3.
I was using Tokina 28 to 70mm F2.8. My Canon L100-400m with 1.4 extender was safely in the camera bag.
I know the picture is bad but when it is enlarged someone should be able to id the bird for me
Definitely not osprey. A hawk for sure, but not sure which one.
The windows in the wings and the long tail indicate a red-shouldered hawk, but I cannot eliminate a second year red-tailed hawk. Sorry, photo just isn't good enough!
Strix.
I was thinking red shouldered hawk to as the tail of red tailed hawk has fan shape to it.
The only bird flying over my house in Zullinger way back that big was a Turkey Buzzard.

Are you close to Hawk Mountain? i know there are many birds of prey migrating through PA. I understand your frustration not having the right lens at the time. As you say, the photo is just too far away to properly identify, but my first impression was juvenile golden eagle. It seems to have a long wingspan for size of body, but this is just a guess, will put this out for discussion.

I am about 75 miles from Hawk mountain.
Local told me there are eagles in the area but did not mention the type.
Night hawk? tHe wings appear to be too wide. The do have white bars under their wings
If its was in the UK I would suggest a Buzzard?

I would go with the Red-shouldered as well.
