I have Google +, I don't want it, but nonetheless, I have it. It is using up 3/4 of my 1 TB google drive. I at one point had "auto backup" on, I have since disabled it. I have also gone through the deletion routine for pictures and albums.
My issue is that I still show all the Google + photos in my google drive account, even though I have deleted them. My only explanation that I can think of is that Google uses some sort of batch procedure to update their drive usage. Apparently my batch hasn't arrived yet.
My question is, is anyone else having the same problem and if so, how did you fix it.
Thanks again for your help.
The last time I used google drive I deleted items that I had shared and they are gone. I think the google drive is on your computer as a folder under your user name, but also on the google cloud. I think the items need to be removed in both your computer folder and on the synced folder on the google cloud. I may be wrong here as i haven't used it in a while.
I alsomhad the same difficulty, I don't knowmjow, but eventually the photo's that imwant to delete came off the cloud on thier own.

It is confusing I know, but Google Drive and Google + are two completely separate things. Interestingly (and kind of unfortunately) only the Google + app has the photo backup feature. If you turn this off in your phone, and go to
https://plus.google.com/photosYou should be able to delete the photos and have them remain so. While I have mixed feeling about the plus implementation, I use it, as the storage is the cheapest of any cloud provider.
Thanks for the clarification. I have resisted joining google plus because it seems so intrusive. I'm continually being asked to join when I use youtube or other sites and forums and I keep getting invitations (probably automatically generated) from other google + members to join. I won't do it. I have a free google website and don't use it much anymore. If you run into a problem there's no human beings to contact. Just a ton of FAQ's and tons of posts on the google site by people asking the same question, and no answer.
