I am using a Canon xTi camera and was wondering for general picture taking and nature shots which you guys feel is the best exposure settings. The Matrix, Partial or Average using the 50mm 1.8 lens and or the 55-250mm telephoto?

In most cases MATRIX will yield good results, but a lot depends on the contrat in the image, type of light (direct sun or full shade), and the placement of the subject in relation to the light,I.e.,backlit or not.

That would be the "Evaluative metering" correct.
