Thanks, I knew it was getting ready to take off and was only about 100' away and I got lucky. I just swung with it. I got a second shot off, but nowhere as good. Glad you enjoyed.

Just got back from 3 weeks in Naples. Getting ready to start the snow blower tomorrow morning. Where were you for the egret shots? I made trips to Freedom Park, Eagle Lake, Wiggins Pass, Corkscrew, Tiger Tail Beach, and the Everglades....

They were taken at Freedom Park. You went to all the good places. My favorites in town are Freedom and Eagle Lake, as well as the end of Port Royal on the beach. Can't go wrong with the Glades. Corkscrew is good but can be iffy and a long drive for me. Summer is good if the Ghost Orchid is in bloom. Post some of what you shot.

I'm using a Nikon D7000.... 70 - 200 (2.8) lens. I also have a 1.7 TC which I use when I need more reach, although I've had some issues with it lately.

What lens did you use for the shot of the egret at Eagle Lakes. I find that most shots require a long lens. Sometimes I can get a shot with a 70x300mm, and then I only get about 200mm clean, and it seems longer is needed. But you nailed it. as well as the other two shots. Good job

You're right. Most shots at Eagle Lake require a long lens. I got lucky with the Egret. He landed near the walking path as I came by. Same with the Woodpecker....watched him move from tree to tree for awhile. To my surprise, landed on a tree 30 - 40 ft. from the boardwalk, and stayed for several minutes!!
