I have a dilemma, I am a Canon guy with a couple of 1D's and my wife is a Nikon gal, I finally (took forever) convinced her to switch to Canon so we can share way more lenses, I am scratching my head trying to figure out which Canon camera would be equivalent to the Nikon D5200, any help would be appreciated.

Canon T5i should be just about what you are looking for. Wife has a T5i, Daughter has a Nikon 5200. They take similar photos. In my opinion, the T5i is more intuitive to use.

Canon T5i sounds about the best match to me also.

Yes, it's the Canon T5i. Looking at the dpreview pages, the D5200 is compared to the T4i and the T5i is compared to the D5200. The difference is simply timing, as the D5200 came out a few months before the T5i.

The OP's wife will likely have a different opinion. :-)

C'mon. The wife is giving up her Nikon and agreeing to learn a new camera system....for you. Splurge a little and show her how much you appreciate her sacrifice and get her a 70D.:-)
