U. S. Marine Veteran With Carry Permit Drops Armed Robber
Ooh-rah! U. S. Marine Veteran With Carry Permit Drops Armed Robber

Two armed robbers in attempted to hold up the wrong Gamestop video game store in Harris County, Texas:
It all happened shortly after noon on Wallisville Road near Beltway 8. According to investigators, the two men attempted to rob a Game Stop store when they were stopped by the 28-year-old U.S. Marine.
The Marine was eating at a restaurant next door when he saw two men pull up to the Game Stop wearing hoodies and bandanas. He yelled for someone to dial 911, and then he grabbed his concealed weapon out of his truck.
According to the Harris County Sheriffs Office, thats when one of the suspects pointed a gun at him.
One of the suspects was fatally shot. The second suspect got away but was found later and taken into custody.
No charges will be filed against the Marine, who had served two tours overseas. Note that the Marine had his carry permit, but had to retrieve his sidearm from his vehicle. It isnt known (by us, at least) if this Quiznos is posted against concealed carry, or if the veteran simply preferred to keep his sidearm in the truck.
An interesting side-note to the main story is a claim made in the comments of the story. If this young womans story is true, then the Marine served up cosmic justice for a previous murder.
The man that was shot today brutally killed my neighbor 4 years ago on May 15. He went to trial after years but was never sentenced. If the Marine who shot this man or anyone who knows him reads this, please, on my behalf, and also everyone who loved my neighbor, Walter, we wish to send you the biggest hug! The story of our beloved friend is tragic, but now his family can be at peace.♥
Violent felons tend to continue to be violent felons.

Anyone care to guess what would have happened in the attempted robbery if that Marine hadn't been armed?

The story points up the training of the MARINE. The robber evidently thought that pointing a gun and menacing someone is enough. The Marine knew that you never point a gun without firing it, and so the robber got his just reward. You don't threaten a nail with a hammer. A gun is a tool and you never brandish a tool without using it.
"The Marine knew that you never point a gun without firing it . . ."
I think that's a dangerous statement in and of itself. If the description of this unfortunate event is accurate, I would agree with you that the Marine took advantage of his expertise and (possibly) his battle sense. And I'd agree with the investigating LEOs that no further action was needed, at least as far as the Marine was concerned.
However, there are times when simply presenting a firearm can defuse a rapidly escalating situation, thus eliminating the need to fire. In my mind, and in the minds of competent people I've trained under, that's always desirable though not always possible.

In an encounter with someone who is armed and means to do you harm, presenting a firearm without using it . . . . well in your next encounter with that situation I hope you survive. I will use mine, ensuring my survival.

Just a thought.
Most gun owners know that a few malls put up signs saying No WEAPONS, which include knives.
So he probably obeyed the sign and left it in his truck.
People, who own guns, don't usually go around showing them off.
Most will keep it concealed and you'll never know they wore one.
Remember, the bad guy doesn't obey any signs or rules.

Looks like guns reduce criminals to corpses.
