I caught this turkey in flight last night just before sunset, and wonder if anyone has an idea of how to make it a wall hanger. Taken with a Canon T3i in sports mode, ISO 3200, f5.6, 1/1600, and 179 mm. I removed the poles and wires with Photoshop Elements.

from my monitors view, not buying this edit. too much edge fringe on the bird, and the color saturation is not matching up.

Thanks for looking at my photo. The edge fringe is not from my editing as it is in the original. It must be from the low angle of the sun as I shot it just before sunset, about 7pm. Just the first week with this camera and I uses a default setting.

I think you are correct that what looks like edge fringe is really highlights from the sun, but I think if you increase the saturation back to where it was in the original in the back ground it will look more natural. Great capture by the way.

Here is the next shot from the series. It shows that the feathers are white on the ends. This was the first time I ever captured a turkey in flight and I want to make a good print.

I like the second one better. Nice clear turkey and beautiful pose. There's only two things I might change. I cropped it differently to get rid of excess background and apply the Rule of Thirds. I also blurred everything except the turkey to make him stand out more. I'd let you get rid of the pole and wires again. The turkey blurred a little due to the crop increasing the size of everything so I sharpened him a bit. You did that so beautifully on the first photo withgetting the wires and pole out that I won't even try to do that. I'd love to see your results on that. Great photo!

or perhaps a motion blur to background. Excuse the low res work here.

Here's a tute: http://fordoing.co.uk/2011/09/adding-background-motion-blur-in-photoshop/#.TncZY9TSQfU

Thanks for your comments. I will make some changes using your ideas and using the second image. I used burst mode and have six images. I see that the first one will always look like a bad copy and paste.

I tried the motion blur for the first time and liked the results. However I decided to combine all the shots into one photo for my print. This is my first attempt by using the panorama feature in PS Elements.

Your combined shot is great fun, better than any single image. This makes the piece both artsy and a document of a moment that is rare. Turkeys in flight are awesome and comical, especially amongst trees, where they have to maneuver to avoid hitting their wings on branches.

Thanks for the coment. Really rare for me, I spent most of my life in Western WA, and as far as I know there aren’t any turkeys there. So this was one of the few times I even saw a wild turkey.

I'd get rid of the birds. They are distracting me from the utility poles.
