Another macro. This time a bee. Not happy with the background though.
Your views are much appreciated.

Nikon D5100, Nikon 105mm f2.8g ISO 500, f11, 1/180 sec. Natural light.

Actually, I think this is one of the hover flies. The eyes are nicely in focus, but it seems to have been a bit over sharpened.

May I ask the settings for this photo?

I believe that your background is fine, but ISO 500, then cropped, then sharpened, increases noise, which is evident in OoF background.

Thank you gym. I guess you are right. I need to avoid excessive sharpening.

Thank you Nikonian72 for your views. I agree that I sharpened it bit too much. I should have lowered the ISO a bit and shot at slower shutter speed. It was hand held so I used faster shutter to avoid camera shake. But it is full uncropped image. Good learning process I must say.

Your ISO, shutter duration, and aperture are proper for your subject in available light. I just downloaded & enlarge your image to see that it is NOT cropped. My apology.
