They were all on a soundstage in Burbank, I was there in 1994.
And I have a nice beach property in Nome for sale!

Earth-based lasers are regularly bounced-off mirrors placed on the moon. This is how "lunar drift" is calculated, which is just over 2-inches a year, moving away from earth.

These mirrors were placed by U.S. Astronauts, as there is no other possible way these reflectors could be precisely positioned on the moon.

1969, I was 12.
What an epic summer: July Moon Walk, August Woodstock. Wasn't in either place when it happened, but man, do I remember!

I was reffering to the photos NASA released....shadows not matching, astronaut photos with no shadows next to the lander with....etc (one light source...unless some one was standing there with a reflector board.)

Exactly! Aerospace technology doubles about every four years. The Mars rovers were placed forty years later, which is technically 10 generations later.

My error! But if you want to discuss the technical particulars of a specific photograph, why did you not post it, or the website address?

Mars has rovers placed forty years later.

The website you mentioned says "This is a public domain image".

We do not have to settle for a thumbnail photo, so here is a high resolution image.

This image is actually mis-labeled, and a bit mis-leading: Astronaut Young is not walking in this photo, he is actually leaping, so his shadow does not touch his feet. Also, look at reflection in Young's face-shield to see astronaut photographer.

Click "download" to see enlarged view, then click on photo.

Astronaut John W. Young Walks on the Moon.

Here's one looks like the lander and young's shadow are parallel to each other, but not the flag, antenna or photogapher ? they will eventully intersect.
