micro sd card with standard sd card adapter on nikon 5100

did anyone use micro sd card with a standard sd card adapter to use it on the dslr. I want to know is there any concern. I have the 32g micro sd card not using. and I want to make use of it.
my camera is nikon d5100, I mostly shoot in raw.

It will work, but the write speeds are usually slow but if you aren't shooting action shots that require 5 or 6 fps speeds and you shoot continuously for many frames you'll be ok.

I will go to a trip for 18 days, and my 16g class 10 card might not be enough, therefore I just want to see what is my option, I will test it tonight, thanks for your info.

It works great actually. I do lots of insurance work and use the micro SD with an adapter in my Nikon D800's regularly so I can pop it into my tablet and upload to the insurance company onsite.

well this is another thing that I am looking into, i hate the ipad that do not has the micro sd slot and most of android tablet has this.
and what you has also make me think of using this way for my backup too.
what class is the card you are using? some micro sd has class 10 too.

I use a 32GB Sandisk Class 10 MicroSD with 45MB/S speed, it works as good as the standard SDHC version of the same card, no slow down to write speed at all.

Well I just take my micro sd card out and it is Lexar high speed class 10 32GB micro SD HC, I will try it out on my nikon tonight.

No matter what card you use, you should format it IN the camera. The camera sets up its directory structure a little differently than a PC does, even though the PC can read it afterward.

If you want a caveat, then I think that you may only need to be aware that when you go to remove your SD card 'adapter' that you may only grasp the Micro SD card (the first time, at least) ...
So, a minimal amount of thought may be necessary ...
OR, you could certainly leave the SD card adapter in-the-camera.

Format the card in the Nikon. That's what you're "writing" to the card with. You can "read" it with any device.

I have a Samsung 3 8 inch. I had a 10.1 but like the smaller size better. Samsung is excellent. I was unimpressed with the previous MS Surface, but the new one is excellent and gives real laptop power in a tablet.
