It's always something.......

I had one of the infamous D600's that had significant spots on the sensor again and again. It took great photos when it was clean. Nikon finally replaced it with a D610. Yeah! However, now the NEF files cannot be read by Lightroom 4 (or PSE12) Harrumph...

So now I guess I need to upgrade to LR5 in order to keep processing my files. It's always something........

Do you mean 610 shutter replacement or the whole camera? My 600 is at Nikon now.
Upgrading can be frustrating. I went through the process recently. Some new programs needed newer OS to work, older programs would not work with newer OS so they then needed to upgraded.

They replaced the whole camera. I verified when I got it. Shutter count 1...

Thanks Flipper2012 and MMC. I am up to version 4.2. When I checked for updates in my drop down window, it said there weren't any but I see on the Adobe site the latest is 4.4. I will download later when I get home to verify it works. Thanks!

The D610 wants ACR version 8.3, PSE 12 is shipped with version 8.1.
Just go to Help -> Updates... in the menu line, PSE12 will update to ACR 8.4 and all will be well.

Specifically:

http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5694

Per:

http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html

Photoshop Elements 12 shipped with ACR 8.1 and is compatible with ACR 8.3, therefore ACR 8.3 can be added to PSE 12.

Thanks to all for the helpful advice. I downloaded the PSE12 updates and that works fine. I downloaded the DNG converter for LR4 but have not had a chance to try it yet. I am not sure if the converter is a better option than just upgrading to LR5 but either way, it's always something..... Thanks again
