I'm heading to Vancouver Canada in April and would love any suggestions on places to go and photos to shoot. I really had a great experience with the advice shared by this forum for my Boston trip so I thought I'd see what everyone said.
Particularly if there are any places that lend themselves to early sunrise/sunset shots?
Thanks in advance!
Stephen

Be sure to visit Stanley park and also take a water taxi over to Granville Island for great shots of the city skyline.

I am acutally from Vancouver! Granville Island, China Town, Stanley Park, English Bay are all must sees.
Will you have a rental car? There are some wonderful places just outside of the City.
If you have a car and the time run up to Whistler. There are great photo ops on the drive up. Once there you can either spend time in the village or take the lift to the top or either Whistler of Blackcomb.
I will definitely have a car... Hoping for a place for a really nice landscape sunrise/sunset type of shot(s).
I wonder how far Whistler is?

about 2 hours, but since they opened up the sea to sky highway (thank you olympics) I'm sure the drive time is shorter.
Haven't been to Vancouver in a lot of years, but thoroughly enjoyed the Ferry Ride, past eagle aeries, to Victoria Island and the awesome Gardens and old buildings.
City Hall is nicely illuminated a night.
There is a train to Whistler that takes about 3 hours, I think.
Nice, but mainly for shopping.
Try the cruise ship terminal for big ship shots been there twice on way to Alaska
Vancouver, BC is a beautiful city. We spent some time there this past August. While there, try taking the 'Hop-On Hop-Off' tour of the city. It is done in two 'loops' and with a directory, you can board the tour bus and get off anyplace you want to. Once you have seen what that stop is, you can board a different bus to continue the tour. We went through the whole loop on both sides and then rode back to the most interesting sites to see. Great places to eat, lots of pictures taking opportunities. Very clean city, no language differences. Word of caution, take an umbrella. You might end up needing one.
Also, plan ahead to make time to visit Victoria, BC. That is the home of the famous Buchart Gardens. You'll have a ferry ride from Vancouver to Victoria, plan to stay at least one night and then visit the gardens. Fantastic photo opportunities.

www.flournoyphotography.comHello Astrontelstar: Take the ferry boat ride to Vancouver Island. Buchart Gardens are a must,(you can take the tour bus or drive there), there is also the hotel Vctoria ( I think that's the name ) in it's either Victoria or Sydney I can't recall off the top of my head which city the ferry boats dock... Lots of tourist trap stuff there too as well as a great big museum. You can spend a whole day just there plus some.
Be prepared. I'm afraid it won't matter where you go in Vancouver because everywhere you go you will encounter the very long faces and sad stories of their painful loss to the Boston Bruins in the Stanley Cup finals. Being from the Boston area I felt compelled to point that out.
Not sure if you are still following this post, but you mentioned you are from Vancouver? We'll be there Friday - Tuesday of the following week. I'm hoping to find a place to shoot a twilight skyline of Vancouver and/or sunrise/sunset. Any ideas?
Also you mentioned places out of town? As I am a landscape photographer... mountains, water, etc.. anything in particular that would work well to show off the area would be awesome. I'm thinking of going to Squimish(sp?) to look for eagles, but mostly hunting landscapes. I also heard about Point Roberts?
