There are so many thing around us every day, they will look quite different when being magnified comparing seeing it with our naked eyes. You will have to bring your macro lens with you where ever you go and discover it yourself!
Here are some examples: WATER, such as water drop-let; soap bubble; oil in the water ; ice crystal; snow-flake etc

HARDWARE, such as needle; screws; nails; tacks; nuts; spring; small light bulbs etc.

SMALL Jewel, any with nice colorful texture.

MINERAL, such crystal stone; sand; chemical material etc.

THE FOOD YOU EAT, such as texture of fruits; scale of the fish etc.

Any Thing You Can Pick Up any where, such as feather from the bird; rusty texture of the metal street lamp pole etc.
Remember that things look surprisingly different to the naked eyes when being magnified!

As a new "old" member I am looking for help in improving my eye and technique. I care less about what brand camera or lens was used to take an image or how much post processing.
(To be honest some of the post processing looks like paintings on velvet or aluminum foil.)
If that's your "bag", fine Guess I am old school.
I would like to see more attention paid to improving everyone's images.
Maybe have assistance in processing. Select odd ball subjects using numbers, letters or combinations.
Squares, circles, triangles. Colors, reflections. Holidays can be celebrated in images.
Anything to get people out of their comfort zones. To capture something other than barns, birds, animals and flowers.
In any hobby or avocation growth is necessary for success.

In fairness to GrayPlayer, he did title his thread "My opinion Only". I suspect too that he was only putting this out as a general comment and not literally to be telling anyone to change their photographic philosophy. Anyone who owns a camera will instinctively take photographs of the things that interest them, it's human nature. If we didn't it would be a bit like reading a book that has no personal appeal. After a while we might get more adventurous/experimental and tinker with exposure, light, angle, DOF... in a quest for variety and something perhaps a little different. There are so many variables to consider that it is almost impossible to keep producing the same sort of work (apart from an absolute novice, and then only for a limited time). I think perhaps GrayPlayer's point is to think outside the box, which most of us probably do to varying degrees. And, it is an interesting point to consider because by doing so we can only grow and develop our photographic technique.

I found mine. It's doing whatever is "out there" AND makes me a little UNcomfortable.
Oh wait, if being uncomfortable Is my comfort zone, I need to re-think this whole thing.

have you checked into the challenge group here on UHH?
There are two different challenges each week and then Sundays are "free" to post what you want.

I think that you might be looking over the horizon when what you are looking for is right in front of you. UHH does have all that.

But I like taking pictures of wildlife and I like taking pictures of my grandson. So my only goal is to get better at those types of pictures.
