My lens has returned

I received my Sigma 70-200 yesterday. I had sent it in for warranty repair. I sent it on May 16th and received it on the 23rd. Exactly one week. I would say that was excellent service. The problem appears to have been fixed. When I first posted this, there were some who had a bad experience with Sigma return packaging. I must say I was very pleased. It came in a large box with a custom moulded foam enclosure. All is well. Sigma has moved up 3 notches in my estimation.

One week turnaround is awesome. Hope all is well with your "new" lens. ;)

I like those custom molded things. Is that the type enclosed in plastic, with the shaped foam inside?

Yes it is Jerry. I had one comment from my posting when I sent it off that stated his came back with just a few peanuts around it. I was needlessly concerned.

I'm thinking that they shoot the foam into the bag and insert the delicate item before it hardens. That way, it form-fits the item. You could probably do the same thing with expanding foam insulation.

Good to hear...years ago I bought a Sigma 400mm lens which supposedly had a lifetime guarantee. I had a problem with it about 10 years later and sent it to Sigma. They mailed it back, unrepaired, stating they no longer had parts.

I too had a great experience with Sigma. I had a zoom macro that stopped auto focusing. the motor would turn but made a clunking noise. Looked around and all the places I checked wanted near a$100.00 just to estimate, I checked with Sigma and the rep there said send it in with a description of the problem and they would contact me as to the repair cost. I waited 2 weeks and sent an email as to what they found and received no answer. Funny thing is that same afternoon in the mail came my lens..... and get this..... NO CHARGE ! I sent then an email of thanks and gratitude. I wonder if Nikon or Canon would be as kind? Needless to say my next lens will be a Sigma.

Use the low pressure foam, not the standard foam. Home Depot has both. Low pressure keeps the box of blowing apart.

I have never had a problem with Canon factory service.
