still run manual lathe, at times, was starting to learn cnc machine 30 years ago. then lost my job at large machinery mfg. co. it was all timed work and always under the gun for production. got a new job the next day and been there ever since. i don't know if these "new way machinist" could run a manual lathe. its totally different. you don't just load it and push "start". mesmerizing video, thanks
the part you just saw cannot be done on a manual lathe. the amount of time needed to program such a part is mind boggling so you would not just do one part in a job shop and make any money with it. you would need several parts ordered to be able to make a profit. the trial and error for the program needs to be worked out as well. but never the less this is an amazing piece of work.
