So then a realtor who wants a head and shoulder portrait for her business card should look solemn, or like a recovering long-time drug addict who has no emotions, or numb to the world? I think not. They want to attract clients through being warm and friendly yet business-like in their portrait.

You bring up an interesting point. When I worked with a brokerage in south Sacramento County, we had a number of brilliant young ladies in the office who supplied the card printers with shots of themselves appropriately dressed,
but still looking like recent high school graduates. One such lady was in her thirties and one of the top five Realtors in the entire firm. We had a glass wall case with replicas of our licenses and photographs on the wall. I can't count the number of times people would walk into the office, see the rogues gallery on the wall, and ask for an older agent. By that time, I knew that I was one of the world's worst Realtors, a certain sale slayer, but they kept me around because I was a genius with the computerized forms system and knew the area like the back of my hand. I would slowly and gently turn the prospects over to one of the distaff agents who would invariably close the deal and usually give me a portion of her commission. What was surprising was the number of clients who would later confide to me that they had passed over some of the women because they looked too young and inexperienced. So a mature looking photo on your card (they stopped using rogues galleries years ago) will increase a woman's chances of being taken seriously in business.
