the few days I have learned about sigma's "outlet" section of there store and Nikons "refurbished" lenses, {of course someone on UHH and mentioned about" refurbished " so I did some investigating, that led to shopping!! now I have a refurbished af-s micro nikkor 105mm 1:2.8 g ed lens, I received it this morning took a couple quik pics, I like it!
, it was $300.00 of retail. any advise or information about this lens {sure I will learn more over the next couple months}
Best advice is to get out and use it!
It is an extremely good lens. Your can use it for portraits, close up and macro. Macro and close ups consider using a flash. Good luck.
sweet spot on mine is f8. sharpest lens i own
I use this lens weekly, as do several other macro-photographers on the Hog. I invite you to drop by the

I have owned my Nikon 105 2.8MM lens since 2007, and I"ve taken many wonderful macro shots with it, I would advise you to get the Nikon 1.4 Tele converter to go with that lens, you wont have to get as close to a subject, and you will only lose 1 stop of light, and get spectacular results, check out this photo, I took useing this combo......
This is one of my favorite shots of a dragon fly, the quality of the Nikon 105 2.8 Macro and the Nikon Tele 1.4 truly will give you wonderful results

beautiful!!! thanks you
beautiful shot! will consider....do you think the 2x would be to much? also i put a 36mm macro tube on yesterday and able to get in very close, so do you subtract the 36mm from the 105mm to get an evective focus of 69mm? i think i stated that right

I own the 2X tele which I use primarly for my Nikon 70-200MM 2.8 Zoom, to give me more reach, the 2X tele gives me 400MM, but with the loss of 2 F stops of light, I"m waiting for the new Nikon 1.4 tele version 3 whiich goes on sale on the 28th of this month,and you will only lose 1 F stop of light, which in my opinion is a pretty good trade off.... I truly believe, its the right tele for Macro shots, I previously owned the version 2 which I sold, as version 3 is way better, look for it either on Amazon or B &H photo..........

I"ve never used extension tubes, but I believe you are correct, besides, once you get your Nikon Tele, you can put those extension tubes, away for good.....
