I am saddened to hear that Sedona is being once again ravaged by forest fires. This area is hot, dry, and has terrain which does not facilitate easy control of these fires. This such a spectacular area - we love to spend a week taking day hikes, and scooting up to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon for a day. And while the town itself and the big attractions like Slide Rock get crowded, a lot of the hiking spots are quiet escapes for yours for the day. Taken with my Sony Cybershot P&S.
Boynton Canyon
Another canyon day hike
My kids enjoying the day.
Another hike
Day trip to the Grand Canyon

I love Sedona, this coming from a poor farm boy from Brooklyn. I did the slide rock and the Pink Jeep tour. I even tried to take a Cordoba back through the trail to try to get to the place they shot the Maxwell House Coffee commercial with the guy and the dog at sunset "Doesn't get any better than this". Nice place. We used to do the South to North tour all the time.

I used to really Love Sedona, now I find that everybody else also Loves it and are there all of the time! In comparison to earlier times, it really sucks now. Traffic is horrendous and people and buildings are everywhere and in the way. JMO
