Another one from the files of you can't make this stuff up. No surprise this utterance comes from a dem.

Dem Congressman: ‘We’ve Proved That Communism Works’

Democratic Florida Rep. Joe Garcia — fresh off being caught eating his own earwax on camera — was caught red-handed (or is it yellow-fingered?) in another gaffe this week, claiming that low crime rates in border cities with lots of federal immigration workers is proof that “Communism works.”

Garcia made the comment during a Google hangout he convened last week to talk about comprehensive immigration reform with supporters. The Democrat attempted to point out how, for all their talk about limited government, many Republicans are fine spending loads of government money on border security.

“Let me give you an example, the kind of money we’ve poured in,” he said. “So the most dangerous — sorry, the safest city in America is El Paso, Texas. It happens to be across the border from the most dangerous city in the Americas, which is Juarez. Right?”

“And two of the safest cities in America, two of them are on the border with Mexico,” Garcia continued. “And of course, the reason is we’ve proved that Communism works. If you give everybody a good government job, there’s no crime.”

“But that isn’t what we should be doing on the border,” he continued. “The kind of money we’ve poured into it, and we’re having diminishing returns.”

The video was uploaded to YouTube by the America Rising PAC, a Republican PAC founded in 2013 and dedicated to opposition research. It’s also the same group that originally uploaded Garcia’s earwax snafu.

Garcia, who is of Cuban descent along with many of his south Florida constituents, told the Miami Herald he never meant to espouse Communism — and was instead taking a tongue-in-cheek shot at his GOP opponents.

“This is an absurdity, accusing the son of Cuban immigrants of believing in Communism is just ridiculous,” he declared.

But Garcia’s district is already rated a toss-up by the Cook Political Report, and with their second attack on the congressman in a week America Rising clearly senses an opening in the south Florida district.

Coupling the “ew” factor of the earwax video with Garcia’s chirpy endorsement of Communism, Republicans now have a rather robust chest of opposition material to deploy in Florida this fall.

Oh, the irony. Clearly, it was a satirical poke at the Republicans, however ham-handed and ill advised it may have been.

Republicans routinely oppose federal jobs programs, federal employment of any kind, and characterize that as "Communist" or "on the road to Socialism" thereby rabble-rousing and fear-mongering ala Joseph McCarthy to gain political points.

But, in the case of militarized border enforcement, they are more than willing to spend $$ billions on a federal jobs program. The Republicans do that, of course, also for the purpose of rabble-rousing and fear-mongering gain political points, in this case by fanning the flames of racism.

That federal jobs program has meant high employment rates in border towns, and low crime rates.

Ergo, the Republicans themselves have proved that Communism works - that which they call "Communism" - according to their own logic, and have contradicted themselves and shown themselves to be self-serving hypocrites of the highest order.

To add to the irony, a bunch of extremists are running around using this quote to - guess what? - engage in rabble-rousing and fear-mongering, ala McCarthy and with racist overtones, all to gain political points for the Republicans. The people spreading this misleading story are, therefore, illustrating and supporting the point that Garcia was making.

The irony, and the hypocrisy, and the dishonesty are all over the top on this little gem.

Yes, go watch the video. I think this is an intelligent test. If you fall for this, you fail the test.

On May 22, 1964 President Lyndon B. Johnson , speaking at the University of Michigan, outlined the goals of his “Great Society” saying “that it rests on abundance and liberty for all” and “demands an end to poverty and racial injustice.”

So now how is all the democratic logic working so far?

The logic works just fine, the execution not so well, in large part due to the ferocious resistance from the monied classes and the corruption and hypocrisy of the politicans. But it is not "Democratic logic," it is, as you say, democratic logic.

I support democracy.

You should be here in Tennessee, our rich republican Gov Haslam turned down the nearly one billion dollars of medicade money in one of the lowest paid, lowest educated, and worst healthcare states in the union. But they still vote republican. Keep them ignorant and they will vote like daddy did....
