But hour after hour she kept coming to my feed station for food

Then this little fellow appeared

The small bird then flew over to a log in the nearby rockery

I then realised that this was a juvenile Robin

Mum had been feeding the youngster none stop for hours.

Mum was looking very tired by now.

She must have been exhausted and had a rest for 5 minutes.

Excellent set and narrative Jim. I have a similar situation only with starlings, not quite as serene as yours. Robins, tits, blackbirds and thrushes taking food away to feed young.
Good story, beautifully illustrated.

Great photos and narration. Thanks for sharing.
That's the most beautiful story you've ever posted, Jim. It's the first time a bird shot has touched me so deeply. Absolutely wonderful. It took a sensitive man to find and photograph this beautiful story. You made my day.

Thanks for looking John and also for your very kind comments I really appreciate it.What touched me most was the handicap she had with her right leg and the way she worked so hard to feed her babies.I found out later that she had been feeding two of them. The good news is that the youngsters are now feeding themselves and giving Mum a well earned break.
Wonder if a cat nailed her? Love the story and accompanied photos. They are such little butterballs, lol.
You ought to send that story and shots off to your local paper--bet they'd print them in a heartbeat!
