Could be...also could be that Jeb Bush, if elected, will put through immigration. The president of the Chamber of Commerce told the Repubs to pass immigration. Chamber of Congress gives big money to the right.
Still up in the air.

Can we get a new party please? One that gives us what we want and need:
Americans want a fiscally conservative government - but neither party is willing to move us towards a balanced budget. Americans for the most part KNOW we need to do that!
Americans for the most part do not want as socially conservative society as the GOP wants to force upon us.
Americans for the most part WANT environmental conservatism - clean air and clean water.
Americans for the most part WANT responsible corporate participation in our society - that means for example reasonable banking regulations and less corporate money in control of our elected officials and our elections.
Americans for the most part WANT safety nets for the poor but want stronger efforts to prevent these programs from being abused.
Americans WANT jobs! Free Trade arrangements need to be reassessed and efforts need to be made to return manufacturing jobs to the US. (Reducing corporate power in congress will help this a great deal).

  Absolutely SB. Nothing would get the left or right's attention quicker than an independent candidate getting more support at election time. Only downfall is you run the risk of being called a fence sitter. Refreshing compared to the finger pointing and name calling in these forums lately. America is ready. At this point we are being governed by a bunch of fossils who will not bend for fear of breaking. Money plays too big of a roll when it comes to elections. A poor man would make a better politician .

Guess that tea party thingy didn't work out for the Republican'ts
I see they all get their butts kicked in the Republican primaries yesterday.
That pendulum just keeps swinging.
The only way too end the grid lock in DC is to end gerrymandering. If you were to set congressional districts by county. The change in DC would be staggering over night. But the electoral college will keep the GOP from ever seeing the Oval Office again. I really like what LarryG said. But you can add a few additions to that list. Most WANT stricter gun laws, religion to stay out of politics and our laws i.e. separate church and state, the government to stay out of our bed room, to recognize science not the bible, act on the fact that global warming is real and man made, plan on the end of oil, the list as to want is long but largely ignored.

The last time we had anything close to a viable third candidate was 2000 when Ralph Nader ran. Without him, like it or not, Gore gets elected. Gore won the popular vote by close to 500,000 as I recall. The supreme court, stopped the vote count in Florida, (a state with major vote counting difficulties, not to mention hanging chads), and handed the election to Bush, because a continuation of the dispute would have hurt Bush's feelings, Scalia opined.
Another irony: justices Roberts, Thomas and Scalia, were all sent forward for democratic senate confirmation by Joe Biden!
