A couple from my drive to New Mexico and back

I moved my daughter to New Mexico (from Utah) because that is where she goes to school and it looks like I will be leaving Utah soon as well. It was a wonderful trip with the exception of going to four corners. If you get the chance to go to four corners, don't. 160 and 84 are beautiful roads and worth skipping Four Corners Monument for.

I live in Pagosa Springs (at 160 & 84) & know the area well! The area by the Ghost Ranch is beautiful. If you go by again turn in & there are a couple of nice spots to photograph.

Good Question. I wish I had a great answer. The hole in the wall is a home built in the mountain (cave like home). The jeep is on top of where the home is. Other than to attract attention to the tourist trap, If there is another reason for it I am unaware.
