thinking about purchasing the 70D, I now shot with T1i. Am I going to see a difference in image quality? I realize the video is better, that I don't use that much. Thoughts please.

Does the 70D shot panoramic?

I also have sx50

The question you have to ask yourself is what do you want to be different in a new camera. In other words, what is it about your T1i that you would like to be improved. I had a T2i and what I disliked most was how slow, 3fps, it was compared to other camera bodies. My old T2i would only take 2 or 3 pictures and then the buffer would be full preventing me from taking any pictures until the buffer was empty. Verrrrry slow. So I upgraded to the 7D. But if you don't need quite that much speed then the new 70D is what I'd probably buy today until the rumored 7D Mark II arrives later this year.

The 70D doesn't take panorama shots internally.

The increase from 15 megapixels to 20 megapixels is slight and the slight increase in high ISO performance may or may not justify the upgrade. There are other features to consider; the articulating touch screen, newer processor, updated autofocus and higher quality build.

Only you can decide if the additional features justify the upgrade. The 70D is a very nice camera.
