When you are in Rockport, MA do not miss Halibut State Park. The best time is at sunset, you can shoot the sunset overthe wate as the park is a clear westerly view over the water,

It has been a few years since I was up that way, but if you are looking for photogenic sites along the coast from Boston to Kennebunkport I would recommend pretty much all of the coast from Boston to Kennebunkport. It might be easier to ask if anyone knows of un-photogenic spots.

Folks travelling to Cape Cod and Southern Maine this fall and I would like to find a few good photography sites. I am trying to teach my daughter how to take a picture she can be proud of.
Nothing makes photography more fun than when others admire your pictures, and help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jack

If you have time to take the ferry to Martha's Vineyard, it is full of beautiful landscapes and seascapes. Go up-island to Aquinnah; there are clay cliffs and a beautiful beach. Stop along the way at Lucy Vincent beach and see the clay arches before they erode. Oak Bluffs has a community of Ginger Bread houses.
There is beauty everywhere on the island. If you want to take your car across, make a ferry reservation in advance.
Sounds like such a great trip with your daughter...enjoy!

Not sure what exactly you're after but there are unlimited beaches, rivers, harbors, light houses, and fishing fleets, as well as whale watches. There is also Mystic Seaport and Plymouth Plantation where workers dress in era appropriate attire if that type of photography interests you.

Once again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What is of interest to you, may not be of interest to her.

Just south of Boston is Plymouth, MA and Plymouth Plantation. In Boston, take the Freedom Trail.
Not too far north of Boston is Gloucester, MA and The Gloucester Fisherman. 20 minutes up the road is Rockport and a half hour or so north from there is Portsmouth, NH which is right by Kittery, ME. It's all historic area with beautiful and quaint ocean views and landscapes. It will be a terrific educational experience for your granddaughter as well as a target rich environment for a photographer.

Between Boston and Maine..just drive up the coast along Rt 1. If you can't see anything not worth shooting then your not looking. The rocky coast is beautiful.

Although it's further "Down East" (north) than Southern Maine, Acadia National Park is the most beautiful place on earth (just my opinion). Bar Harbor is on the same island, Mt Desert Island.

Acadia is about 3 hours from Kennebunkport. If it fits your schedule, it is definitely worth considering. The crowds shouldn't be too bad in the fall.
