I just returned from a trip to the Smoky Mountains. While in Cades Cove we found several bears feeding on grasses and leaves. They are such a beautiful animal, but they can be dangerous. In the Cades Cove area the bears have become used to the thousands of visitor that come through looking at them so they tolerate humans. But caution is advised when you see a female with cubs, they can get nasty. These photos look close but i was using a 500mm with a 1.4 extender
Was in a field eating
He was in a tree for a long time eating leaves
This one was near the road causing a bear jam

Great shots , thank for sharing !
In Fort MacMurry Alberta Canada a Black Bear killed a lady at the mine camp while another person tried to get the bear off of her two weeks ago.
Good advise. Great captures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
They can be dangerous, one got a hold of a lady here in Florida, rough her up, then they destroyed 7 bears in the area, come to find out the lady was feeding them
Excellent shots. For anyone planning on going to Cades Cove to photograph them, there has been a 500 pounder spotted several times, eating a variety of wildlife in the area. Forrest rangers are making plans to get him out of there before he attacks visitors. They say he is vicious.
