I love bird watching. I have taken photos of many different birds. I know I have a lot to learn when it comes to perfecting my photos. I'd like to figure out how do I capture images like a humming bird without all the noise in my photos ? When I turn up the shutter to capture him the image gets dark so I turn up the iso which makes noise.

I saw some of your other pictures. Very Nice. What lens are you using. I have a hummingbird and a bee. I shot with a Tamaron 18-270 mm lens
I used a canon 75-300 lens for the photos of the hummingbird.

That's a relatively slow lens, like the Nikon 70-300. It forces you to up the ISO (more noise) to get a reasonable shutter sped. A faster lens (say f/2.8) or a flash, would solve your problem, or a tripod so that you can use slower shutter speeds with low ISO (but then the wings wouldn't be frozen). Fast glass is the simplest solution (though not cheap!).
Thanks phlash46. I have done some research on lenses and yes are they pricey.
This will depend on the quality of your sensor. Set Aperture Priority, ISO to whatever your sensor will allow. On my top of the line Nikon D3s I use 1600 (locked). This provides a shutter speed 5000th of second or faster. Aperture set at 5.6. This is the basic setting for all of my wildlife photos. When I encounter a critter all I have to do is focus and shoot. Experiment with your ISO and see how high you can go and maintain quality. But always LOCKED!
