New hazard for 4th Gen HASWELL CPU owners

Beware of using memory modules that use 1.5 volt logic when increasing the memory on all 4th generation INTEL HASWELL i5 and i7 CPU. These machines are designed for 1.35 volt memory modules and will not function properly on the old 1.5 volt modules. Most memory companies now make both types so look at the specs to be sure. The correct modules state they are compatible with HASWELL 4th generation i5 and i7 CPUs.

High-Performance Vengeance Memory for your Laptop 16 gig kit is part number CMSX16GX3M2B1600C9.

If you're a serious road warrior or you use your notebook for heavy-duty applications like photo and video editing, your notebook should have as much memory as possible. Adding a 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB laptop memory upgrade kit will allow you to multitask between more programs at once and load and edit larger files without having to wait for data to buffer to the drive.
1.35V for better operation with the latest systems

QUOTE from AMAZON webpage:

The latest laptop and notebook systems based on 4th Generation Intel Core processors require DDR3L memory powered at 1.35V. Vengeance 1.35V DDR3L SODIMM kits are compatible with the new 4th generation family of processors, and are backward compatible with 2nd and 3rd generation processors.

The gaming community was the first customers to discover this change and they posted warnings on gaming blog sites. I found the reference to it on the ROG BLOG SITE (Republic Of GAMERS).

Using the wrong memory modules can cause serious damage and over heating of the motherboard. It's not just the mhz speed of the module, but also the operating voltage that needs to be compatible.

On the AMAZON website, they have CORSAIR VENGEANCE modules in both voltages but the correct module for HASWELL CPUs is CMSX16GX3M2B1600C9. The "B" in the part number designates that it's compatible with 1.35 volt logic.

Just a word to anyone thinking about upgrading their RAM for HASWELL machines.
