Let's all grow up and stop the adolescent behavior!

Fact: Obama did attend the 2009 event. But not since because it is deemed not significant year to year....Only on special dates ie., 60th anniversary, 65th, 70th etc etc.

A ceremony to mark the 70th anniversary of D-Day will bring world leaders together June 6 on the beaches of Normandy, France -- including two of the globe's biggest current rivals, Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin.

I, and possibly others would like the heros of each war THEY fought for our freedoms; to be honored FOREVER, not just once every 5 years or so.

Obama is a putz in my eyes and so will his replacement if it is another democrat throwing my taxes around in the welfare state they are creating in the U.S.

Wait until the money isn't there any more. You can only tax the working man/woman so long until they stop providing for the underserving.

Yup - it's Sarge69. Thanks for listening.

Well, he may not be a child chronologically, but intellectually and emotionally I'd peg him at about 12, and an immature 12 at that. Glad he doesn't live here in Georgia, he'd probably take full advantage of the idiotic gun laws that the Dolts Under the Dome, the legislature, just passed. He'd probably pack 2 or 3 autoloading pistols, plus a shot gun. "Gotta kill them MFs, ya know!"

Get a life!

How about cutting back on this kind of diatribe? Nobody deserves this kind of nonsense.
"Non-photography talk" does not need to include this. No matter how you vote, civility is something everyone deserves.
I can't be the only one disgusted by this kind of rhetoric.

You aren't the only one. This sort of trash talk is worthless, and speaks volumes about the perp. It suggests that you LIKE war and are sitting there fondling a weapon and hoping for an excuse to use it. You need help.

Sarge, You and I and several other good soldiers of our once proud, prosperous and great country have fought bravely for the rights Americans both Republicans and Dumboldcraps to live in what is the "land of the free". The a$$hole in the oval office has done a great job disrespecting what you and i stand for and believe in. Unfortunately he was able to convince the minorities, the freeloaders; the uneducated, the illegals, the lesbians and gays, and those of his color to elect him twice. Articles like the one you've shared herewith are printed everywhere and everyday. The "World" knows he is a loser, liar, and a very selfish inconsiderate self centered bastard. Other leaders of great countries laugh at him and know he is ruining america. Yet he remains where he is and there's no one or anything that is willing to step forward with the balls to remove him. He knows he is safe. All the articles such as yours is a waste of time as well as the ink used and the paper it's printed on. America doesn't have the courage to rid him from his position. I suggest as a friend you cease sharing these articles as it appears know one is doing anything about him. He still has until November 2016 left to do much more harm and agony to our america Pray that he has a heart attack please.

rge69]Every year the French have a 4 day celebration in Normandy complete with American uniforms, tanks, jeeps and guns. They still honor the Americans who died there?.

June 6, 2013, the 69th anniversary of "D-Day", the largest invasion ever attempted, where 200,000 Americans stormed the beaches at Normandy to begin the final push to defeat Nazi Germany in WWII. D-Day marked the turning point in WWII in Europe ... Today, European heads of state make it a point to recall and honor the sacrifices of those who landed in Normandy , as do our Presidents.... well, most of them....

In the 69 years since D-Day, there are four occasions when the President of the United States chose not to visit the D-Day Monument that honors the soldiers killed during the Invasion.

The occasions were:

1. Barack Obama, 2010
2. Barack Obama, 2011
3. Barack Obama, 2012
4. Barack Obama, 2013

For the past 69 years, every American President except Obama have taken the time to honor the memory and sacrifices of the 6,000 American soldiers killed on D-Day. ...Except Obama!

June 6 2010,
Obama had no events scheduled.

June 6, 2011,
Obama met with the National Security team and was interviewed by WEWS Cleveland and WDIV in Detroit about the auto industry - FAR too busy to visit the D-Day memorial.

June 6, 2012,
instead of honoring our fallen soldiers, Obama made a campaign trip to California on Air Force 1 (at our expense) to raise funds for (his) upcoming election.

June 6, 2013,
Obama was doing ANOTHER fund raiser with the multimillionaires in the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee in Palo Alto , CA , once again at our expense.

America - Aren't you proud?

Four times in 69 years!!

Take a look at the second post by papa........ It was totally uncalled for. It was a statement that had nothing to do with the first post, just ranting by a person with no feelings for the veterans and their families who died or suffered during our sacrifice on the beaches of Normandy. Just getting it off my chest if I offended some other posters, but too many of our soldiers are losing their life or were wounded and now we have an administration that isn't doing enough for our veterans. Just letting them die. Attacking the prez is easy to do as he has no idea of what is going on under him.

Another viral email/Facebook posting with erroneous facts that will be passed along without question, and believed by too many who are unwilling to check its accuracy.

There have been FOUR US Presidents to visit Normany on D-Day.

Reagan in 1984. He was the first and visited on the 40th anniversary.

Clinton in 1994 for the 50th anniversary.

Bush in 2004 for the 60th anniversary.

And (wait for it .................) Obama in 2009 for the 65th anniversary.

His speech can be seen here:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2012/06/06/archives-president-obama-commemorates-d-day

I just wish that my conservative friends would recognize that the continual posting of such erroneous and transparently partisan misinformation only makes it harder to take conservative viewpoints seriously. I try my best to listen objectively to all sides of an issue, but things like this make it very difficult.

those Iraqis are grateful for their freedom from Saddam courtesy of us. AND THE WOMEN OF AFGHANISTAN are grateful for being libereted from the extreme repression of the taliban, As for Europe, war ended the tyranny of the nazis, and the cold war liberated eastern europe from soviet domination. Unfortunetly we have a spinless, weak, incompetent president l who is carteresque in his incompetence, allowing putin and russia to start trying to bring back the ussr. the world does not respect or fear us just like when carter was president.

Dday was extremly important in us and world history and tohave a president not show up is disgracefull. He also did not go to Gettysburg for the 150th aniversary of the gettysburg adress given by the only competent president from Illinois. Maybe because lincon was a republican

Okay, we're playing the Veterans' card. The idea which you state that only veterans should be presidents of the U S is specious. If you peruse this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Presidents_of_the_United_States_by_military_service you will see that many of our presidents either did not serve, or served in non-combatant positions, for example, Ronald Reagan. St Ronald spent the war making what were essentially propaganda films extolling the US war effort. A commendable effort, but a bit short of risking life and limb for the country. G W Bush was about as close to a draft dodger as one could be while wearing the uniform. Could he have kept stateside without the aid of powerful friends?

"For the past 69 years, every American President except Obama have taken the time to honor the memory and sacrifices of the 6,000 American soldiers killed on D-Day. ...Except Obama!"

Earlier respondents have debunked this LIE. Or does the truth mean nothing to you if it interferes with your slander of our President. You might review the thread before you repost this crap.

Come on, get a life!

Bullshit. America came into the war because Hitler declared war on the US after the Japs had bombed it. We could not have won the war without the US but the UK and Russia were not doung badly.
