Well to me two subjects consist of a major and a minor. However even further on your eyes might catch a smaller or even more momentarily interesting object, or even further on, a multitude of subjects, which I will try and treat ABICan (As Best I Can)
This one was taken Sunday, the Château Frontenac in Q-City and photos from this angle are in the thousands each tourist season however I added a fire plug to show a second subject, which is chosen by the viewer, which could be the plug or the hotel. True the plug is too dominant, but I wanted it like that. More coming up.
Here I shot the sax player, him being the only subject but then along came horse drawn ''caleche'' and set up a second subject, the sax man being relegated to second place
Here is a tip:
I'm sure that all of you have experienced this problem.
In a restaurant I set my camera for Inside lighting and raised the ISO .......BUT forgot to reset once outside. My bad

See how adding a second subject can change the photo?

I was out at low tide in the mud and the red coat is a raincoat. I had those boots on today too, I was cutting wood. Stihl boots with toe caps
