New printer recommendation

I'm looking for a new printer to replace my Epson 2200. I'm unable to fix the clogged head despite repeated doses of the solution from fixyourprinter.com

There are some who expect new printers from Epson to be announced at Photokina in Sept. Also the fact the the current 3000 is discounted $150 might mean a new line is around the corner. Anything else I should be looking at?

I have been using the 3880 for two years. I think it is a great printer and very economical with the pigment cartridges. I'm actually still on my first set and I make a lot of prints.

I had a 2200 for a few years, and when it died, I got a 2880, which is comparably priced. I like it a lot, and it's the first printer I have had that does really good B&W prints with three shades of black ink.

I own one too, and ditto on the ink cartridge replacement, I bought a complete set of cartridges so I'd have them on hand and have yet to put even one in.

Rumors were that Epson was going to release 5 new printers last year and now that they might be coming in Photokina (in Sept). I'm wondering about why the current rebates, and whether the new printers will have significant improvements.

If you don't have to stay with Epson, I'm enjoying my Canon Pro-100 (8-ink) and can do 13x19s among other sizes. I just looked up the manual and it lists 14x17 as a paper option. I had heard that it can print longer than 19" but it would have to be done as a custom print size. Sure beats my old Epson NX110!

I have an Epson r3000 and like it a lot. I don't know what the discount means. I got mine a year ago with a $300 discount, paid less than it's selling for with this current discount. Not sure how they decide these things...
