I googled a lens I am interested in - a Rokinon 2.8/14, and found a Chinese source that offered it for much less than any other source. Is this a great deal, or too good to be true?

If something is clearly out of line with everything else, I am very skeptical.

I was looking at a camera once from a Chinese site. I had read about the grey market and decided to send the company an email to the sales department. This was about four months ago and I have not heard anything from them. I purchased at B&H.

It's not the Chinese source, but the low price that would make me suspicious. Digitalrev, in Hong Kong, is a reliable dealer, but some Chinese sellers, like sellers in this country, offer low prices, but not high quality.
I have the Rokinon 85mm f/1.4. Beautimous! $240 (?).
Totally manual. Not a single info contact on lens mount.
Bidding on the 14mm.

Isn't this the same lens as the Samyang and I believe another brand name that escapes my memory? The Samyang has good reviews. Don't know if there is a price spread between the brands though.
Other name is Bower and Samyang (the actual company that makes them in S Korea) used to make vivatar also. I got the lens with Bower name because it was $25 cheaper than the same store had it under the Rokinon and Samyang names, go figure. Be aware it is an all manual lens.

The Rokinon's (and all the other names they sell under), are pretty good deals, as they offer decent image quality for their price, but stay away from their tilt & shift optics, as they are just plain pieces of shit and still cost you at least a grand!
Maybe it's just me, but I'll pay the extra $200 to get autofocus with the Nikon AF 85mm f/1.8.

amehta..I agree with you whole heartedly !! My 85mm is a Nikkor f1.8D. However there are a lot of people who are in this on a shoestring and to whom that $200 means a lot.
If it sounds too good to be true.....
