Sigma 70-200 problem

I have a Sigma 70-200 which I will probably end up sending to them for repair, but would like to know if anyone else has had my problem

I'm using Nikon D600 and Sigma 70-200. Oftentimes, when I focus (autofocus) the lens chatters, hunting around for focus. Sometimes it stops, in focus, and other times, not in focus. This can last for several seconds. I've also tried a D90 and D7000. All three bodies receive the same performance from the lens.

Also, has anyone had experience with Sigma warranty repair? Their site is not the most intuitive to navigate.

Thanks

I had the same problem with my Sigma 150-500mm.
Fortunately, I live on Long Island and Sigma is out here, too.
Sigma is WONDERFUL. The lens was just over a year old, but I did not know when I bought it that it was Gray Market.
Anyhow, I brought it in and they told me about it being Gray Market, but they kindly worked on it anyway. Not only did they repair/replace the part that was making the lens constantly focus, but they also updated the firmware...no charge...in less than a half hour.
Now that's service!

That IS service. Unfortunately, I do not live real close to a service facility.

You can ship it to them. If it's 3 years or less, the only thing you'll pay is shipping to them. Unless it's Gray Market.

A very common problem with Sigma glass, but lately they are getting better at this.

I have the Sigma 70-200 but have not had any problems with it. I have had experience with Sigma repair and they were exceptionally good. My lens was not repairable and was out of production so they gave me credit toward a new lens of my choice.
