Wednesday, I am going to the center of that dark green area in Upstate NY for 5 days ( Adirondacks- St. Regis Area) Not Alaska , nor the big areas of the west. But it is dark- you can see all the stars ( if the clouds work with us), and quiet- you can hear the frogs across the lake at night, the loons two lakes over, Barred owls taking to their brethren a mountain over, not hear a single machine made sound, or a glow on the horizon, and carry on a normal pitched conversation with someone 100 yards away, and the big- most important reason . no one lives there!
All within 5 hours of the most densely populated areas and biggest cities on the face of the earth
New York State would be one of the best places to live on earth if you could make a living here maybe someday we'll get someone in politics that can turn it around. Meanwhile I have told all my kids, "you'll have to move away if you want to do well".
