D7100 lenses match ups, Tamron, Tokina Sigma

Been fighting and issue with different lenses not being sharp. Finally got time to play and 1 lens was perfect everytime on my D90, but soft everywhere on D7100: this particular lens was nothing other than 50mm 1.8D. 18-55 is perfect on D7100 not clear on D90. Anyone else ran across this? Any experience out there with Tamron 28-75mm 2.8?

What lenses do you use on D7100 with consistent results?

Just my limited guess but the DX lenses are sharp on my D5300 and the FX lenses are sharp on the D600 the Nikon 28-300m works well on both. I have the Tamron SP 17-50mm f/2.8 VC and I think I can fine tune it on the D600??? Not sure how to do it, lots of reading to do yet.

My 18-55 and 55-200, which have always worked fine on my D40x, also work just fine on my D7100. But so far my favorite and best results on the D7100 are coming with the 35 1.8G. I got the lens based on Ken Rockwell's article, and I really like it. I do recall having read somewhere that firmware updates are resolving some of these issues where the camera doesn't quite get an accurate read on lens ID data. Or something like that.

There is a micro focus adjustment in your camera menu on your D7100.

Years ago I had a 180 f/2.8 that worked great on my D70 but was worse on the DX2.

Had the 28-75 f/2.8 and it was ok but it never quite matched the color of the Nikkor lenses.

I have a D7100 and love the hell out of it too! What a joy to play with all of the features it has and...that's considerable too!

I have a Tamron lens and this is the info right from the lens itself. Its a aspherical LD XR DiII, AF 18 - 200mm 1:3.5-6.3 (IF) MACRO 6.2 A14. Sorry can't re-produce the symbol for the plain distance at the back of the camera.

But, since buying this lens, and second hand too, I now use this as my primary lens and hardly ever change lenses now.

For me this is a very good lens and I get superb pix with it. It is fast and reliable in a way I like better than other AF lenses. What amazes me is its 2d hand. Someone let go a very fine lens!

In a nut shell...it is a very versatile lens to use on my D7100!
