"And here’s a bipartisan bill on the Keystone pipeline — create 20,000 jobs, 116,000 indirect jobs — and yet continues to be blocked over in the United States Senate."

This is a joke... these jobs are for China which will receive most of the oil/gas produced in Canada and processed in texas. It doesn't take 20,000 Americans to build another pipe line across the mid-west.
When is the last time you heard about a republican Jobs Bill or a republican Health Care Bill... Exactly...never!

I have heard that too since President Obama took office. Of course no Republicans voted for Obamacare but in my opinion they did exactly what their voter base expected of them. To vote to pass a bill into law when it is obvious that nobody had read the bill would have been almost treasonous in my opinion.

Be that as it is, I am not truly a political person so did not know until about a year ago that Harry Reid, the Senate Majority Leader, can approve or not bills brought before him. So when I hear Democrats saying the Republicans don't have anything to offer just remember that they really do have alternatives to offer. The problem is it LOOKS as if they have nothing to offer when Harry Reid simply doesn't allow the Republican bills to be called up for a vote in the Senate.

I wonder what the Democrats have to be afraid of? Aren't we all supposed to be working together?

Think about this too if you will. The Republicans are said to be obstructing the Democrats. But then remember when President Obama said in public that he will not negotiate. Does that sound like a dictatorial statement to you? It sure does to me. Isn't the job of Congress and the President to have meaningful discussion about issues that affect all of us? For the President to simply say he will not negotiate seems sort of one sided to me.

In my personal opinion all we have gotten from this administration from the President on down has been lies, and deceit. Someone does something illegal or simply wrong they don't get fired. They are promoted. Go figure.

Dennis

You are so wrong..
Huffington Post article ..."But the bill is probably doomed. Leaders of the Senate Republican caucus have demanded votes on unrelated amendments, which Reid declined. Reid instead offered Republicans a chance to vote on a separate bill that would force the approval of the Keystone XL pipeline -- but only if they first approve the energy efficiency bill."

Each time a bill comes from the House it is polluted with Tea Party and right wing extremes which kill the bill in the Senate.
This is why Beohner/McConnell cannot control their own party votes.

You are completely correct. When was the time in the last 6 years that you heard anything Republican reported in a positive light?

This is truly an unfortunate time to be white, straight and Christian.

You all know, one way to get Harry Reid out of his position of power is to put the Republicans in control of the Senate. Mitch McConnell would be a much better majority leader of the Senate. We did it to Pelosi, let's do it to Reid. Then you know who.

How about some information? And a link - rather than an obviously biased quote that's appearing on about one-hundred Liberal sites. Just highlight the quote - right click and search on your favorite engine.
IF Reid puts it up for a vote - with some Democrats also pushing it (in order to try to keep their precious jobs) - it would be bad for Democrats, Reid and BO! So we have to blame them nasty Republicans....
"Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Kentucky Republican, said the Democratic majority was denying Americans a serious debate about energy policy.

“We can’t move forward if the Democrats who run the Senate keep trying to protect the president at the expense of serving their constituents,” he said.

Refusing a vote on the amendment to approve the project spared Mr. Obama, who has repeatedly delayed it since he took office, from a potentially embarrassing bipartisan vote that could have approved the pipeline over his objections.

The truths: "The fight over the Keystone XL oil pipeline has stalled progress on an unrelated bill in the U.S. Senate. Republicans want to attach a series of amendments, including approval for the pipeline to a bill about energy efficiency. But Democratic leader Harry Reid says the Keystone vote ought to be separate. And as NPR's Jeff Brady reports, the disagreement leaves the energy efficiency bill in limbo.

At least the republicans are consistent with trying to stall the government from making any significant moves in Energy, Health, Education. They don't want to govern they want to obstruct... If the Republican/Tea Party is ever re-elected I would hope the democrats work with them not against them. This is hurting everyone.

That one's too easy. Senate = minority rule. Who is the minority in the Senate?
