SPITFIRE 944

What a bright and courageous man. No weapons, no bullet-resistant windshields, no escort and
he was flying over Germany to take photos.

WWII Spitfire Pilot

Just watch the expression on his face as he watches himself.

We owe a BIG thank you to men like him.

18 years old, all alone, behind enemy lines, no guns, no escort...
and he gladly did it.

It was truly the greatest generation...We owe them so much...

Extraordinary! So modest despite the incredibly heroic things he did!

"sniff", reminds me of the quote, "I was in a company of hero's!"
This June will be the 70th anniversary of D-Day.

Great segment! I was a Flight Surgeon's Assistant in the Air Force for 20 years, retired in 1975.
I had many experiences with crashed and crippled aircraft at many different installations from the swamps of South Georgia, the isolated area of South Texan to the plains of Thailand and between. I've been there when A/C have landed without landing gear and with two out of three gear down. The Spitfire incident brings back many memories. Some good & some bad.
