I am thinking about a backpack. Does anyone have a Lowepro Pro Trekker 300 AW Backpack? If so, how do you like it? I want one to take out in the woods as well as taking it on planes and trips. So a good multi purpose pack I guess.

I've got several bags and backpacks, each for a different purpose. For things in town or where I can't haul a bigger bag, I have a shoulder bag. For shorter hikes, I have a Tamrac backpack that will hold two camera bodies, four lenses and a bunch of filters. But for long hikes (more than a couple of hours) or where the terrain requires extra gear (gaiters, rainpants, etc.) I use a North Face backpack, not a camera pack. The reason is that the camera kit is the smallest part of my gear. I carry rain pants, rain jacket, rope, trekking poles, tripod, a change of clothes (for when I fall in the water), two water bottles, lunch, diffuser, small tarp, writing materials (I always take notes when shooting), sunscreen and bug repellent. And I need room to peel off layers as the day warms. So consider your purpose and choose a pack that is suitable.

I have a Case Logic SLRC-206 SLR Camera and 15.4-Inch Laptop Backpack (Black). It holds Canon D60, laptop, extra lenses, flash, charging cables, lens cleaner, and a few other odds and ends. The camera slides in the top fit easy access, which I like.
It's been a great carry-on for flights and when I go out shooting. I don't have as much stuff to carry as many of you do, but I'm happy with this backpack.

I have the LowePro Flipside 500 AW. A little big for under the seat on the plane. The 400 would fit better.

Lowepro bags are very good you can't go wrong; I myself like the Lowepro Slingshot 302 AW it handles well in the city and in the woods.

Like most everyone else that has been playing with cameras for a while, I have looked at, tired, used and discarded a number of bags and keep several on hand for different uses, but my most often "go to" bag seems to be the Lowepro Fastpack 350. Will carry two bodies, 4 lenses, a flash, digital voice recorder and lots of batteries, if I pack it right and it all fits on a plane. I've taken it to Cuba twice, Ireland, Canada and all around the U.S. It holds up well.

Greetings Davet. I have the AW300 (two of them, actually). It is big and somewhat heavy, but will hold a load of gear, if that's what you're looking for. It will likely not serve as a carry-on for air travel, as it probably exceeds the allowable dimensions. If you can handle a big heavy pack, it's perfect for hiking and long-distance travel.

I just bought a "Loka" with a medium shallow ICU by FStop. I really like it so far. One of the best features is that it opens from the back. (the side with the shoulder straps)
This is handy when setting it down in dirt, mud, snow etc.etc.
Its kind of pricey but worth it in my opinion. The "Loka" model is "Carry On" compliant as well.

I looked at the Loka, but dismissed because of it's price. I went with the LowePro Flipside 400 which has the same feature as the Loka (opens from the back). I love it!!!
