On a walk with the son, came across this little gem.
Canon PowerShot SX50 HS (nice P&S)
Then a little Photo Shop for effect

well done, a touch of flash would have cleaned up the shadows for a better look at the junk veh.

I don't actually carry a flash (on a leisurely walk) that can overcome the direct sun at my back, and a subject 100 yards away, on posted private land..

Besides, I think the shadows are awesome. I actually darkened the photo and pumped the contrast just a bit, to make it starker. But that's my taste

Good find, but it's probably past restoration.

I've been trying to figure out what that is, judging by the rear fender. I thought it might be a '56 Pontiac, but it's not. Any ideas? Someone's gotta know.

I do believe that is a 49 or 50 Ford with a flathead V8 engine. It took me a little while to even see that it is a car. I am not as quick minded as I once was. ;)

Yep, that's it. Without that little bulge in the fender, it would be hard to tell.

Looks like a 52 Ford - the tail light assembly on the side and that was a year that they didn't have round tail lights. One of the few things I remember from childhood.

I did some checking and it is not a '52, they had round tail lights at the top of the fender. This car is a '49-'51 Ford. Can't tell which because I don't see the hood. The '50 & '51 hoods were straight across the front of the hood and the '49 had a cutout in the center across the line. It is not a '49 because it had the gas cap exposed on the left rear and the '50-'51 both had the gas cap cover by a flap on the top of the left rear fender. That is as far as I can narrow it down without the hood.

Thanks. I was 10 in 1953 and I'm a girl so what can you expect! I just remember that one year Ford did not have round tail lights and then they went right back to them.

Actually that is pretty good that a 10 year old girl at that time would notice that difference. Heck that would have been pretty good for a boy at that age to notice that. I remember these things because I became a car nut at about 13 years old. For me anything after 1970 is pretty much a wash out. Loved hot rods and still do.

I lost track somewhere in early 60's. We moved to Europe for 3 years and when I came back I was woefully behind. I do remember some after that but now they all look alike.

Yes indeed. There is something wrong when a Via looks like Chevy.
