Have an Epson Stylus R3000 printer and am spending a small fortune on ink. Are there any other alternatives to this?

Be wary about off brand printer ink. I have two Epson printers. One is an old RX600 that used to accept InkFarm printer ink. I'm not sure that it still will. The other printer is a Artisian 730. Itries InkFarm ink and the printer told me that it would not accept it and it refused to run. InkFarm was good about a refund as they originally said it would work OK in the Artisian 730. Apparently the large printer companies like Epson and HP have the ability to stop your printer from running if you don't use their brand of ink (that's what I am told anyway).
Good luck.

You can get non brand cartridges to work on a modern printer. tell the ink supplier to program the chip on the cartridge. alternative you should have options on your printer set-up program to use non epson cartridges. I am sure that a search online will produce results regarding your particular model.
I use canon(3) and have used panasonic and epson in the past - all have run on cartridges supplied by 'Cartridge World' here in the UK. If you can deal face to face it may help.

Google 4inkjets.

I use their ink for my Canon printer. Never had a problem and I save 50%.

This site is an environment friendly, refillable cartridges. I've had good luck with them and they're prices are good.

While I have read all the warnings of other inks, I tried 123inkjets in an old HP printer. I've been very happy with the results and the price. Haven't had any problems....related to the ink.

I use only Epson inks and yes, they are not cheap. I imagine you could find a good quality alternative, but aside from possible clogged nozzles and blotching from some cheaper inks there is also the factor of the longevity of the ink. Genuine Epson will retain its color qualities for a long time. Many cheaper inks won't. A suggestion: Good printers are relatively cheap. Why not get a second printer that you can use cheaper inks in for your less important prints and save your expensive ink for the prints that need it? If that would work for you it may make sense to consider it.

Checkout www.inkjetmall.com for first class Epson refillables, a choice of ink types. You will also find there find a wealth of information and tech help from Jon Cone, a pioneer in digital print making. I have been using the inks in my 3880 for some time with excellent results. They are not "cheap," but way more reasonable than stuff from the Epson factory. If you are serious about your prints, worth every penny IMHO.

I used CISinks.com system for my Epson NX305 for 4 years and it worked fine. Few clogs, but soaking the tip in rubbing alcohol for an hour "un-dried" the cart tip. Problem is caused by non use. The savings is great a couple of thousands of dollars.

The 305 died and stopped dyeing for non ink causes. I have a system ready for my just in service Epson Stylus-Photo 825 (still on start up carts). Based on technical data, future bulk ink will be purchased from:
http://www.earthinkjet.com/bulk-magenta-ink.html
Check out their longevity data etc.
Yesterday under the forum "printer" the discussion evolved into a discussion of ink.

I suppose I am a coward. I have used Epson printers for over 20 years and I have never used anything but Epson supplied ink. Of course, I have never had a problem either. Good luck.

My experience, admittedly not with current models, has been that aftermarket inks in Epson printers was ultimately a bad idea; on HP inkjets, however, I have been refilling them in my basement forever with impunity!

Excellent advice. I too have the R3000 and only use Epson inks. I only use this printer for prints that must be "perfect" for clients. I bought a cheap Epson WF-2540 which I use for the not-so-important prints. It still does an excellent job for the money.

I use only Epson ink in my printer. But have considered trying Cone ink, since Jon Cone once worked with Epson and helped develop their inks.
