This may be a no-no but I shot into the sun (not at it directly) because the cattails seemed to glow in the marsh. The fluffy seeds were flying all over in the wind.
Cattail ready to let the seeds fly
Seeds floating - landing everywhere
Going against the wind and sun
Number 1 works for me, bending the rules is half the fun
I like 4 the best but I also like 1 too ;)
Dont say "I did a no-no"
Make yourself look creative and say, "I chose to backlight this one for the dramatic effect."
Poof, You're and Artist!
AHHCHOOO
Shooting into the sun's not too bad.
I took this one on the beach at sunrise.

Love the first and last pics. Looks as if there is a white flame surrounding the cattails. Great creativity
Beautiful shots... love em all.
Great Ideas make great photos! Keep up the creativity!
Shooting in the sun makes outstanding work possible,
you have a good eye, Bravo. Bv

Thanks,
As soon as the stormy weather clears I plan to try this technique more often.
Rules! Huh? Break em if you care to.
You were drawn to the glorious light. I think I would PP them to bring in some details of the white fluffy strands. That, of course, would darken the brown pods but the viewer only needs to recognize the shape to know they are cat-nine-tails.
You have an eye now for how to produce silhouettes.

I don't think it is a good idea for you to shoot a lot like this for 2 reasons. 1. Bad for the human eye peering through the view finder. 2. Not sure if it will damage the camera sensor in the long run.
William. As usual, you made a striking image subject, color and composition.
