I am highly alarmed by your recent suspension of Larry Payne, apparently on the basis of complaints from other members of UHH. A member should be suspended for violating community rules, not for being at variance with prevailing opinions. Just cause for such action would include ad hominem attacks of which many of us are guilty, at least to an extent. Suspension, therefore, should be reserved for those whose ad hominem material is particularly virulent, vulgar, or which constitutes an exclusive or major component of the posts.

Larry Payne has been more victim than dispenser of ad hominem attacks. His critics, on the other hand, relentlessly disparage his intellect and his comments, usually without giving any support for their virulent conclusions, and often in the most offensive language. I have never seen anyone abused so thoroughly and preemptively on any website. In return, Mr. Payne has dubbed his critics “The Rat Pack,” hardly matching their vicious personal insults.

In a forum such as “General Chit Chat” there should be tolerance for some heated discussion. Mr. Payne’s measured responses fall well within expected parameters, but the attacks of his critics do not. It is therefore a kangaroo justice to suspend Payne, and not the very people who undoubtedly complained about him, yet made more serious violations of fair debate etiquette than Payne ever did.

Few of us celebrates extra work our complaints and other feedback causes you administrators, but no member should be suspended just to stop specious complaints, or for doing something that dozens of others do more seriously and more often. Nor should anyone be suspended for voicing unorthodox opinions. Larry Payne’s opponents should try to defeat his ideas by fact and reason, not by using group dynamics to silence him. Your complicity in their preemptive censorship of Mr. Payne is a blow to the freedom of speech the very title of “General Chit Chat” implies. In the name of all who value human rights, I ask that it not be repeated.

Mr. Payne is back posting once more with rants that are off topic of the thread with his one minded theme of attacking the Jews. No, not Zionist but Jews. Any fool would know that a Zionist is also a Jew of Israel. If he would stay with the topic and stay off the subject of his conspiracy theories and stop his persistent attacks of Jews there would be less complaints against Larry.
