(Not sure if I posted or not so going to try again.)

I need to mount some 8x12's to poster board and frame them. What is the best way to do this? I do not want to use the spray glue (I'm terrible at that). I did use some double-sided tape for some but now wondering if that was a good idea.

And. Do you sign your photos you are selling or not? If so, where do you sign?

Thanks much for the help.

I mount photos that I am framing to mat board with self-adhesive linen hinging tape. I use acid-free materials so they don't turn brown.

I don't sell, but I've donated to auctions for charity. I have signed a couple on the lower-right corner of the mat (pencil), but on others I just tape a card on the back.

Can you buy this linen hinging tape at a craft store? Will it work on poster board? I can't find frames 8x12 so I get the 11x14 frame. I cut a white (or black)poster board to fit the frame and mount the photo on that.

Thank you. good idea about a card on the back.

I get it at Plaza Art supply - I don't think they are that far west. You should be able to get it at art supply stores. You can also try some of the online art stores, like Utrecht, Plaza Art, Dick Blick.

It's made by Lineco: http://www.lineco.com/
It doesn't look like they sell direct, but there's an 800 number on their website. they may be able to tell you where to get it locally.

go to hobby lobby and in the scrapbook dept there are several good options for you. Buy the acid free... they have tabs, square, tape runners etc. Don't buy the "paper studio" brand it doesn't hold that great BUT the 3m and 3L are terrific.

If you are going to use a mat, you can use Magic Mending Tape by 3m to tape the sides and ends of the pix to the backing board. It is safe to use on photographs and holds forever. Been using it for 22 years.

I hope the poster board is a shoort term mat. I don't think poster board is acid free or very sturdy and would hate to see your good work turn brown and wrinkly. Just my 2 cents worth but I would invest in some good acid free mat board.

oops. Great idea! I never thought of that! I haven't been able to find a mat for 8x12 size. That's why I started using the poster board. But now I will try to figure out something else. thanks for that tip!
