first time shooting moving water

these are a couple of pics I shot of moving water...when I took them the weather was very dreary........used auto mode but, a couple of different setting's...have not done any retouching to them..(your are welcome too if interested) thanks for any input

The second one with the ISO turned down at 200 is better. The slanted horizon seems distracting, it takes time to adjust your eys and may cause the picture to lose that first impression sense of wonder.

First----lose that tree on the left!
Second, fix the horizon.

This should all be done before you even consider exposure time. I carry a bubble level that fits on my hotshoe to help with that horizon issue.

As for the photo, the second is better. The slower shutter time give the water the feel of motion. Try photoshop to brighten and saturate the colors to give a bit more pop.
