Took these this morning. Having fun with the hummers
Can't get great focus. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Chuck
The Exif data doesn't really say much... what settings were you using? It looks like the images may have been shot with a very high ISO, which could explain the excessive graininess and softness.

Chuck, I think you are using your ipad. If you are using a camera, please tell us what camera & lens you have. Your focusing issue has been ongoing, but unless we have more information, we can't really help you. Earl.

Hard to say, Chuck. ISO400 is not excessive, & f8 is okay. However, the shutter speed is too slow for a hummer. Maybe try 1/500 or 1/1000, but this will mean opening up your aperture or upping your ISO. I notice that the surrounds are also out of focus, so it is possible that focus wasn't achieved when you pressed the shutter. Two things come to mind..
1. Are you keeping the camera still (I mean really still) when pressing the shutter. Are you using a tripod?
2. If you are shooting at 300mm, maybe you are too close to the subject & are out of the focusing range of the lens.
Your posts were starting to improve quite dramatically. Try to remember what you did when you took the good ones. Earl. :)

Chuck, do you like to read? I recommend a book by Bryan Peterson called Understanding Exposure. IMO it's one the very best, and I keep referring back to it over and over.
