Tamron 150-600...again...

I went the our local camera store today where I have the Tamron 150-600 for Nikon on order. I spoke with Tamron customer service YESTERDAY, the 25th and was told the April Japan release had been scrapped. I had been told in March that it would be release in Japan in April. I called ASAP Photo to see if they had the Sigma 150-500 in stock. They did not but said they would have one next week. My reason for going was to see if they could match the $899 deal on B&H right now. I will have to wait until Monday to get an answer from the Sales Manager but while there they forwarded a link from the Tamron website...dated 4-24 stating and April 30 release date. I spoke with Tamron customer service on 4-25 and they had no idea when the lens was going to be released...does one hand know what the other is doing? If you are one of the Nikonians waiting for this lens, read this link below and tell me if you get the same message from it that I did. Mid May?...I don't believe it.

Ad says the release date to be April 30 - in Japan; perhaps the release in the U.S. may not happen til much later?

I got a reply from tamron itself, they said the canon mt is being delivered in small numbers and global demand is making it hard to find

I ordered one a month ago locally. I got an email yesterday from my dealer saying Tamron sent him a notice that they would be shipping to US May 15, but that the demand was great, and therefore it would be awhile before all the orders were filled.

From what I am gathering, the lens produces pictures that are quite soft at any range. Perhaps they are tinkering and trying to address some of the reservations that are now being brought up by Nikon users. They have a lot of great press, but waited (too) long enough for some complaints to arise.
